Do No Harm, Take No Shit, Leave No Trace!

Do No Harm, Take No Shit, Leave No Trace!

We are getting closer to the world’s most powerful gathering of freedom-loving people in the world! At only weeks away we are ready to share the space of the Princess Hotel and all of Acapulco with our community! With that comes a few thoughts that we’d love to share.

We are planning on having a Community Bulletin Board this year so that those in the community who are wanting to connect with one another can share publicly. Some of our past unofficial activities planned by individuals in our community have been, AA meetings, The Cube of Truth (vegan outreach performance art) and a baby sea turtle release.

As organized as Anarchapulco is this year, the event is created by the community – for the community. It’s an essential aspect of anarchy to self-organize and we will always support and encourage it.

In 2020, we are hoping to have a “Green Team” heading up the environmental outreach.

This year we are calling on our community to take the lead and be mindful of our environmental footprint that we leave in Acapulco. Where our event has grown so large, we have the potential to leave a massive amount of damage to the natural landscape if we aren’t careful. In light of this, we want to bring about awareness that we can and should leave Acapulco even better than when we arrived!

Everything we bring to Acapulco might become trash: bottle caps, ashes, orange peels, cigarette butts, pistachio shells, rope fibers, buttons that fall off of bathing suits, just to name a few. Most of us are only in Acapulco for a short window of time to restore the beach and surrounding nature to its original condition. We want to encourage everyone in our community to share in the responsibility to line-sweep where they’ve hung out on the beach, partied or enjoyed one another outside in nature.

There are a few ways in which you can plan ahead to respect the gorgeous nature of Acapulco:

  • Don’t bring glass containers of any kind — they can shatter. Metal bottles work well.
  • Remove all excess packaging from food and throw it away before heading to the beach or surrounding areas in nature for a picnic.
  • Smokers: use a portable ashtray (a mint tin works well) to collect cigarette butts and ashes. Please never drop butts on the beach or the ground.

If we all have the mindset that we can not only support the local economy of Acapulco, but we can also positively affect the natural environment, we can be model anarchy in ways that help change society’s views of what it’s all about.

We can lead the way in respecting nature and the abundance of beauty present in this great city. If you’ve never been to Acapulco be prepared to be mind-blown at the stunningly gorgeous natural environment! It’s always a surprise to first-timers.

With Freedom Comes Responsibility!

Let’s set the standard by respecting nature in all of it’s glory during our time in Acapulco, at the Princess Hotel and beyond! Let’s leave it better than when we arrive!
